Tutorial: Getting Started with Dreamweaver
As you begin to learn how to use Dreamweaver to make web pages, you
will learn how to open Dreamweaver, how to title your
document, and how to save your document.
- Open Dreamweaver
- To open Dreamweaver, select the appropriate progression below:
On a Windows PC:
Start
Programs
Macromedia Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver

On a Macintosh PC:
Apple Menu

Dreamweaver will open with a blank window titled New
Document.

To give your document a title, click in the title text area and
type the title you want to give you your page. The document's title
is very important: it determines what displays on the top of browser
windows, what name is stored for that page in search engines, and what
will display in a bookmark listing should your page be added to one.
- Save your document
- Saving your document is the most important part of this process.
This tutorial will stress the motto "Save early, save often." To save
your document:
File
Save
Select your web space (most likely your "I" drive) and be sure to
include the file extension you want to use for your page. For
instance, our sample page was saved as:
example.html
Then click "OK." Your page is saved. The file name you chose will
appear in parentheses after the title you've assigned. (as shown below)
