Fetch allows you to connect to remote systems from your MAC (either at home or, as these pages imagine, from the IMAGE lab). Once connected, you can transfer files to and from those systems. To learn more about ftp, peruse the NWE help pages on the subject.
To use Fetch in the IMAGE lab, double-click the fetch icon on the desktop or choose the following menus:
Apple MenuApplications
Fetch
The Fetch "New Connection" window will open, allowing you to connect to the following servers (among others):
To connect to one of the servers, make your selection by clicking the "shortcut" arrow (it is possible that the shortcut will not be made yet. In that case, you will have to make the shortcut to ftp.nwe.ufl.edu or login.clas.ufl.edu). Now type in your username and password for that selection, and click OK.
Two windows will open. One of these is the "log window," which records your transfer activity. The other is the connection window that allows you to transfer files.
