Core_ftp: Tranferring Files

Now that you have successfully logged into the server you want to connect to, you can use Core_ftp to transfer files back and forth between the PC you are on (either in IMAGE or at home) and your account on the other server. In the screenshot below, notice that there are two columns. The left one is your PC and the right is the remote system you have connected to (your NWE account in this example). Between the two columns are two arrows: one pointing towards the left column, the other facing the right.

As you may intuit, selecting a file in the left column and pressing the arrow facing right will transfer that file from your PC to the remote account. Similarly, selecting a file in the right column and selecting the left arrow will transfer that file from your remote account to the PC you are on now.

You will notice that core_ftp automatically opens its own directory on your hard drive as the default directory. In all likelihood, the files that you wish to transfer reside in different directories. To switch directories in core_ftp, click on the folder with an up arrow inside it located above each file list in the local and remote columns or click on the folder with dots next to it in the file list. Clicking on these will move you up a directory. To select a directory, double-click on it within the file list.

Another useful feature that core_ftp has is the ability to transfer files to the remote system by drag-and-drop. If there is a file on your Windows Desktop that you wish to put in your NWE directory, you can drag it into the core_ftp remote column and automatically transfer it.
